TBô sent in The Ballsy Jockstrap V2 for a go on the testing range. The jockstrap comes in sized as a Large and this one is Navy in color. Its made from 1 type of fabric that is a blend of:

• 95% Bamboo
• 5% Elastane

This fabric is a solid weave that is thin and see-through when stretched. This fabric has a 2-way stretch property and scores a 1.5-inches on the stretch test. The jockstrap is made from multiple pieces of the bamboo/elastane fabric that are:

• 2-pieces to make the pouch that provides complete coverage of the pelvis and genitals. The 2 pieces (halves) are joined together in the middle of the pouch with an overedge seam that runs from the top at the waistband down the center to the bottom of the pouch and there seems to be a small strip of elastic banding sewn inside this seam. The outer edges of the each is trimmed with a 0.33-inch wide folded fabric inseam that also has elastic banding sewn inside the fold. With the cut of the fabric pieces and the use of the elastic infused seams the pouch has an outward 3D contoured anatomical shape.
• 2-pieces that provide a little coverage from the sides of the pouch at the top, around the top of the hips to the legs straps at the side of the hips. Its attached to the waistband on top and to the leg straps on the sides. This strip is about 1.75-inches wide this also includes a 0.75-inch inseam of folded fabric at the bottom. This added strip on both sides gives the jockstrap a ” bikini briefs” style profile.
• 1-pieces of elastic banding that is used to make the waistband. It is about 1.35-inches wide and is joined in the center rear with an end-to-end stitched seam to complete the loop. The “TBô” logo is embroidered in the waistband. The waist band is attached to the fabric with multi lines of stitching.
• 2-pieces of elastic banding about 0.75-inches wide are used for the leg straps. They are attached at the top to the waistband on the side of the hips and run down under the butt cheeks where they are attached to the bottom of the pouch. The bottom ends of the straps are attached to each other with a “V” shaped end-to-end stitched seam. The point of the “V” is then attached to the bottom of the pouch with a stitched seam.

There is a mix of straight line, flat loop and over edge stitching used to put the pieces together. The product tag is attached to the inside of the waistband in the rear and is removable.

Field Test

The Ballsy V2 jockstrap has been out on the testing range 5 times with about 66 hours of wear. The wear has been during a mix of activities, some at work operating heavy equipment, some working around home that also include some intense physical labor, and some was traveling while on vacation. The jockstrap has been though 5 laundry cycles.

Scores and Comments

The fabric is very soft on the skin, almost silky like. Its light, thin and airy. Very breathable and moisture wicking. This fabric is very flexible too. I felt no pinching or hair pulling. The waistband feels smooth on the skin and is snug without cutting in. The same can be said for the leg straps. The waistband and legs straps didn’t feel tight or restricting and they too did not pinch or pull hair.

The waistband has a low-rise fit and this one, sized as a Large, fit my waist perfectly. There was no problem with rollover or gapping. The leg straps also fit well and stayed against the body and no twisting. The pouch has plenty of room and the 3D contoured shape carried things in a more anatomical fashion. The pouch provided moderate support with a little lift and keep the genitals completely separated from any skin-to-skin contact with the legs. There is a moderate bulge effect. With the elastic infused seams and shape, the pouch kept thing completely covered with no gaping around the edges. Overall the Ballsy V2 Jockstrap is form fitting and it fit my body in accordance with the TBô size guide.

The jockstrap is very flexible and moves quite well with the body. I had no chaffing or uncomfortable rub points. Since this is a jockstrap there is no problems with leg material ride up or bunching. The stitching is nice and flat but there is a few spots where the fabric edges stick out of the seams at the waistband and a few loose threads that were missed getting trimmed off. I see no defects or separations in seams or the materials and no color fade. There is a little pilling in the bamboo fabric on the front of the pouch where it rubs against the outer clothing. The jockstrap has retained its out of the box shape. Overall this is a well designed jockstrap and a very functional bamboo fabric and generously sized pouch.

So TBô’s Ballsy V2 Jockstrap is half bikini brief and half jockstrap with the front having the coverage of bikini brief but all jockstrap in the back. I think this is the first jock/brief style I have had on the testing range. Jockstraps have been good performer’s on the testing range and this one is has done so with all my activities well. It worked well while operating heavy equipment and during long rides. The pouch is not tight or compressing and lets things hang a little mor natural (anatomical). It does have a cool wear that last all day.
