This Dual Pouch Brief is sized as a Large (to fit a 36” to 38′ waist). The underwear is made from a blended modal (92%) and elastane (8%) material and has a 2-way stretch property. The brief is constructed with multiple sections of this material. A section for the seat, a small section for the upper legs (each) that run from the seat to the pouch, a small gusset section at the bottom of the pouch and the pouch sections which is made in 3 layers. Its all held together with flat lock and over edge stitching.

This brief is available with 2 options for its waistband.

  1. Fabric Covered Elastic is an elastic band sewn inside the top fold of the modal fabric.
  2. Geometric Athletic is a waistband made from a woven elastic material attached to the top of the underwear

The fabric covered version is the style that I tested. The waistband is a “low-rise” cut in the front and more of a “mid-rise” in the back. Its about 1.25 inches wide. There is a SHEATH logo label sewn on outside waistband just off center.

The legs on this brief are a high cut exposing much of the font upper thigh. Sheath describes them as a “High Rise” European cut. The leg holes are hemmed with a small elastic band inside the inseam surrounding the legs.

The Dual Pouch system is made from 3 layers of the modal/elastane fabric.

  1. The first and most inner layer servers as the back wall of the inner pouch. It is attached in a “U” shape along the sides and bottom and open horizontally across the top. This layer stops just above the height of the genitals (See fig 2 and 5). So, your package would go on the outer side of this layer with the top tucked underneath or behind the sack. This layer prevents skin to skin contact of the genitals with the body or legs.
  2. The 2nd layer is the center layer of the modal/elastane fabric and is attached around the perimeter like the first layer, same “U” shape but continues up to the waistband. There is a circular hole sewn in the center of this layer where your penis is put through to the outer pouch (If you chose to wear it that way). So now the penis is separated from the sack.
  3. The 3rd layer is the outer layer of the pouch and is also attached around the perimeter same as the 2nd layer except for a vertical access fly on the side. (Much like a traditional underwear fly).

Where all three layers are attached to the underwear, there is a small elastic band sewn in the seam like the leg holes and there is a also a center seam that runs down the middle of each layer.

Range Test

Had these briefs out on the testing range since June and again mostly at work running heavy equipment, so lots of seat time in there.

Reviews

Fabric

The modal/elastane fabric is very smooth and soft. Its stretchy scoring about a 1.6″ on the stretch test. Its also a very thin material that is slightly see thru where not layered. The fabric is very breathable and moisture wicking. I experienced no problems with any chafing points, bunching or wedging. The fabric remained form fitting even in the heat and retained its shape. With having about 100 hours of wear time and 6 laundry cycles there are no signs of fading or fabric degradation.

Waistband

The waistband is nice and wide and with it covered with the modal/elastane fabric, is soft against the skin. With the “low-rise” fit and tension of the elastic, the waistband pretty much stays put. Now I didn’t feel the need to pull up the waist after getting up from sitting but I did notice that since the elastic banding is inside a fold of the modal fabric, it did roll a little inside the material. The entire waistband didn’t roll or fold over, just the elastic on the inside. This mostly happened when sitting and didn’t cause any discomfort. I would guess this wouldn’t even be and issue with the Athletic Band option or maybe even if your skinny or slim.

Legs

We ell with this being a brief with the “High-Rise” cut legs, we’re just talking leg openings here. The elastic banding in the legs definitely help anchor the brief and contribute to its form fit, without cutting in. Yea… no ride up problems here.

Pouch

The Dual Pouch system is a WOW factor. The dual pouches, if used for total separation as I did, is so comfortable, especially when sitting. To have all parts not feeling any skin-to-skin contact is a real experience. The pouches provide great support for all the parts and again, total separation. The pouches have ample room without pinching or squashing. One of the best sized pouches I have experienced. I have seen some reviews on their site where some have complained that the pouch wasn’t big enough for the average guy. Well, I am telling you that if your average in size, there will be plenty of room. If your bigger than average, I can assure you the pouch will be fine. If your huge, well then, your just huge and you will have to try them. With the combination of the shape and cut of the fabric, center stitching and the seam around the perimeter of the pouch, gives it a distinct 3D “U” shape that has a moderate bulge effect, especially when using the outer pouch configuration. If you are using the outer pouch, keep in mind that this layer is not lined, so a silhouette of what you’re packing could be seen through the material.

Overall

Overall, this is a very comfortable underwear. The modal fabric is quite refreshing. The fabric style, shape and cut of this brief makes it a very work friendly wear. It handles the warm temperatures extremely well and is very movable with the body. The support and separation it provides proved to be a top performer for keeping things from being jostled around and squashed while operating equipment. I like the high-rise legs, especially on the hot days. They are currently priced at $26/pair and would run about $260 to keep a 10 pair drawer, so they are still in my affordable range. I would say they are worth it for the wear you’re going to get. I would recommend that you get the Athletic Waistband option though if you’re going to be doing a lot of physical activity or bending and sitting throughout the day. The stitching appears to be quality work and if the modal material holds up, it will prove to be durable. The longer it holds up will increase it affordability factor too. I currently don’t have any discount codes to pass along, they do have discounts for first time orders and for subscribers to their news letters. but I am sure they do have sales and specials from time to time.

Range Qualification Award

What a great underwear! I loved the modal fabric. Again, I haven’t worn briefs for many years but since I started this project, I am adding them back into my personal stock. As for the dual pouch system, what a fantastic concept. I highly recommended this brief for anyone who seeking underwear that provides support and total separation and doesn’t mind the leg exposure. Of course, they have other styles and colors, but you can check them out for yourself at https://www.sheathunderwear.com

I have a review of their boxer brief coming up too, so stay tuned.

Remember, always start your day with a fresh clean pair, and be safe out there!
