Out of The Box
The WR20 Jockstrap is another underwear offered by Wear Raphael. It came sized as an extra large and is green with contrasting white trim. Wear Raphael states that it’s “designed to provide exceptional support and comfort during your most intense workouts” and it’s here to be tested on the Range.
Its made from one type of fabric that is a blended material of:
- 96% Cotton
- 5% Elastane
The fabric is a solid weave that is of medium thickness and is not see-through. This jockstrap is made from multiple pieces of the fabric which are:
- 3- pieces that are used to form the pouch section. A center section and two sides that are sewn together to form the pouch. The center piece is about 4-inches wide that runs down the center from the waistband at the top and to the crotch at the bottom. The 2 sides flank the center piece and also run form the waistband down to the bottom. The 3 pieces are sewn together with wide flat lock stitching. The seams may also have a small strip of elastic banding sewn inside the seam. The outer edges of the pouch are hemmed with an 0.75-inch strip of fabric covered banding trim. This inseam also has an elastic strip sewn inside the fold. The combination of the shaped pieces and the elastic infused seams gives the pouch an outward 3D contoured pouch that lends to an anatomical shape. The top side of the pouch is attached to the waistband with multiple lines of stitching.
- This jockstrap has 0.75-inch wide leg straps that are attached to the inner side of the waistband at the side of the hips and to the external side of the pouch at a center point on the bottom.
The waistband is made of a thick elastic band that is 1.75-inches wide. This is a single piece of band that is joined in the rear with an end-to-end stitch to complete the loop. The waistband also has a felt like finish on the inside. The “Wear Raphael” logo is embroidered in the band. The product tag is also embroidered on the inside rear of the waistband.
Field Test

The WR20 Jockstrap has been out on the range 5 times with about 69 hours of wear time. Most of the wear time was at work operating heavy equipment. The jockstrap has been through 5 laundry cycles.
Review
Wear Raphael has used its and smooth cotton/elastane blended fabric in this jockstrap. Again it appears to be durable with no signs of pilling or color fade. The breathability and moisture wicking properties are about the norm for cotton material which is about mid scale in performance. The waistband on the jockstrap feels snug and secure but soft on the skin with the felt finish on the inside.
The WR20 fits very well and in accordance with the sizing guide on the site. The waistband stays put with enough elasticity to prevent gapping. There is not rollover or twisting and no need to pullup or adjust. With the larger 3D contoured shaped pouch along with the elasticity of the seams gives this jockstrap a snug and supportive wear that carries the genitals in a more anatomical fit. The leg straps are also fit well and stay snug without any sagging, gaps or twisting. The wide width of the straps didn’t cut in.
The jockstrap provides excellent support without the feeling of things being squashed or restricted in the genitals. It also provides good separation to prevent any skin-to-skin contact between the genitals and the legs. The anatomical fit of the pouch provides a medium bulge effect.
The seams and stitching are tight and clean with no signs of loose threads or seam gaps. The junctions of the seams are nice and smooth with no uncomfortable knots or over stitching. Since this is a jockstrap there is no chance of bunching or ride up in the legs. The jockstrap moved very well with the body during all my activities and the waistband and leg straps stayed put and flat.
All in all a very nicely designed jockstrap with its wide waistband and leg straps, roomy pouch and soft fabric.
Scores

Pro’s
- Affordable price
- Great support and separation
- Soft fabric
- Durability
Con’s
- Average breathability and moisture wicking performance
The WR20 Jockstrap is another winner for Wear Raphael. This jockstrap has performed well on the job. It held things securely while operating heavy equipment on rough terrain and it prevented the dreaded “sticky sack” on the legs. Another benefit of the jockstrap is less fabric covering the body. Less coverage makes for a cooler wear. The only downside is that cotton doesn’t breathe or wick moisture away as well as other fabrics. They will feel damp at the end of a log hot day or a good sweaty workout.
I am sure there are those who believe that a jockstrap is just for sports and I use to be one of them but now I know better. Jockstraps are great for everyday wear and if your job is rough and tumbly put this jockstrap on.
If you would like to try the WR20 Jockstrap, you can get it directly from Wear Raphael’s online store. I just did a recheck of the site and they are currently going for about $6.42 for most sizes. What a bargain! For that price I would grab a few more. Check out the sizing guide before ordering and keep in mind the largest size they offer is a XX-Large which fit my 36-38” waist perfectly.
I have some more Wear Raphael coming soon so check back in.
Until then… Always start your day with a fresh clean pair and be safe out there!
