Out of The Box

Chill Boys also submitted these bamboo boxer shorts that are sized as a Large. The underwear is made from a blended 95% bamboo and 5% spandex material. The material is stretchy scoring a 1.5 inches on the stretch test. The boxer shorts are made with 2 pieces of this material.

  • 1- piece to make almost the entire body of the underwear which includes the legs, front and rear coverage.
  • 1- piece to make a gusset section that connects the inner legs, front and rear at the bottom in the groin area.

The sections are put together with flat loop stitching and flat seams except for the edges of the button fly access where the fabric has a stitched fold edge.

The Front, Rear and Legs

This is a full coverage boxer in the rear, front and legs. The legs are about 3 inches long and are hemmed with a stitched fold of the leg fabric. There is no pouch, just a flat front in the traditional boxer style with an overlapping vertical button fly access. The gusset is used to connect everything in the bottom. The fabric is thin and slightly see-through.

The Waistband

The waistband is a thick elastic band material about 1.5 inches wide and is attached to the outside of the boxer’s main fabric with multi lines of stitching. The chill Boys logo is embroidered on the band.

Special Features or Area’s of Note

The product tag is imprinted on the inside rear of the underwear.

Out On The Range

Ok. I didn’t schedule these boxer shorts into my testing routine. Instead, I have and do wear these boxer shorts 2-3 times a week. I often throw them on after a shower or as lounge wear to hang out or sleep in when going commando is not appropriate. So, I have put about 270 (estimated) hours of wear on these guys so far and they have been through the laundry cycle multiple times. (Also see the Special Notes in the Qualification and Awards section.

About The Feel and Comfort

The bamboo fabric is very soft and airy. The waistband is nice and soft but has good elasticity to keep in snug. Everything lays light on the skin.

About The Fit

These have a loose fit on the buttocks, groin area and the legs. The waistband fits snug and stays put and has a mid to high rise fit on the waist.

About the Performance

As lounge wear, the boxer is perfect for just relaxing around the house or hotel room. The stretchy fabric flexes well with no binding even when bending in the legs. The material if very breathable and moisture wicking. There is no pouch so there is no support to offer or separation for the genitals. Since I have never worn these in a working environment or under outer clothing, I have no data on bunching or ride up. I have had no problems with waistband rollover.

About The Quality

The stitching and seam work are of top quality. I have not seen any loose threads or seams. There is a little pilling on the inside of the waistband and a little warping in the elastic when they are off, but this disappears when put on the waist.

About The Design and Construction

As a boxer style, would say these are designed well to give a loose fit. The length of the legs is nice and not real baggie. The choice of fabric is a definite plus and the added spandex in the material to giving it some stretch is a bonus.

Range Qualification and Award: Special Note

As you will notice, I didn’t field test this underwear in the same manner as I have the other underwear (bottoms) products. Therefore, the review and scoring I usually use can’t be fairly completed. This is the first pair of traditional style boxers that I have received for this project, and I haven’t worn this style in the past. So, I presumed (wrongfully) that this style could not be scheduled for testing and review as for work and other outdoor or physical activities. My reasoning at the time was due to reasons from past personal experiences where I either was wearing a poor preforming underwear or was going commando and had various problems with squashing, chaffing, loose material on the legs riding up or a very painful experience to the groin area due to no support or separation. When this underwear came up on my list to review, I realized that I had unfairly predetermined the results without subjecting them to the same process and testing criteria. My intention for this project was to test and review all and report my observations and experiences as to what works and what doesn’t. Then I have to be willing to experience the bad with the good to be fair and inclusive. So, I apologize for that and vow not to repeat my mistake. Please don’t interpret this as a poor review of Chill Boys Bamboo Boxer. In fact, they have become a staple in my wardrobe and when I get a fresh new pair of these I will test and review them properly.

What’s The Word

So, as you can see, I didn’t evaluate these boxers in an at work environment or during other activities other than lounge wear and they are exceptional for that and I wear them often. I know there are probably many out there that prefer loose fitting boxers and may have jobs that they will work just fine for. I can only say that I love these as lounge wear and highly recommend them in that compacity. They are currently priced at $24.95 which is cheaper than most so-called luxury brands and yes, I consider these as luxury. You can find them directly on Chill Boys website. They do offer a military and first time customer discount, and have a rewards program.

Until next time,

Always start your day with a fresh clean pair and please be safe out there!
