Here is another selection from Bamboo Sports. The bamboo brief is made of a blended 95% bamboo and 5% spandex material. The fabric is thin but stretchy which scored a 1.25 inches on the stretch test. The thin material is a little see through especially when it is stretched. The brief is made of multiple pieces or sections which consist of:
- One section that makes and covers the rear and top of the legs to each side of the pouch section to the front and to the bottom of the pouch in the rear.
- Two sections that make up the pouch, each section is connected to its respective side of the legs and to the rear section at the bottom. The 2 pouch sections are connected to each other down the front middle with a seam That runs down the center from the waistband at the top and to the seat section at the bottom.
Most of the seam work is a smooth flat lock stitch. The seams that connect the front of the legs to the sides of the pouch are an over edge stitch. It appears that all of the stitched seams also contain a small strip of elastic material stitched in the seam.
The Waistband
The waistband is a woven elastic band that is 1.33 inches wide. The band is made from one piece of material that is joined in the center rear with an end to end stitch. The waistband is secured to the top of the underwear fabric with multi lines of stitching. The Bamboo Sports name is embroidered in the waistband.
The Legs
There is no leg length on these briefs. The inseam around the leg openings are edged with a braid covered elastic band.
The Pouch
The pouch is double lined with the same bamboo spandex fabric and the flat lock seam down the center of the pouch is on the reverse side of the inner layer and away from the body.
Special Features or Area’s of Note
There is no fly access and the product tag is imprinted on the inside rear of the seat fabric.

Field Test Comments: The Bamboo Brief has been on the range 5 times for about 72 hours of wear. Most of the activity has been operating heavy equipment at work. Of course there is the 2 hour travel time from home to work and 2 hours back. The brief has been laundered 5 times (after each wear).

The bamboo fabric is very soft and smooth on the skin. The waistband material is also soft and rides comfortably on the waist. The leg openings are comfortable with the smoothness of the braid covered inseams. The pouch has a light and caressing feel on the genitals with the bamboo fabric.
Everything about this brief feels good on the body. In fact, most of the time I forgot that I was wearing underwear.

The waistband has a low-rise fit on me and the wider band is snug without cutting in. The leg openings fit well with the added elastic strips in the inseams. This allows the openings to expand and flex and with enough elasticity to prevent any gapping. The leg inseams ride about mid hip. The pouch has a 3 “D” anatomical fit that provides plenty of room and allows the genitals to hang more natural. With the bottom to the leg openings also serving as the bottom outer edges of the pouch, it fits and carries the same as a jockstrap. The added elastic strips sewn in all the seams in conjunction with the stretchy fabric, produce a form fitting brief, very sporty. It all fits well with my body size and in accordance with Bamboo Sports sizing guide for a Large.

It turns out that bamboo is very breathable and moisture-wicking, so this brief has performed very well at work in the heat. The spandex-infused material in combination with the elastic banding in the seams allows this brief to be very flexible, which moves very well with the body. I have experienced no chafing or rubbing points. Also there were no hair pulling, pinching or restrictions of movement. The wide waistband didn’t rollover, sag or twist. The shape and fit of the anatomical pouch does provide support (softly) and a little lift which in turn creates a little bulge effect. It provides great separation with no skin-to-skin contact between the genitals and the legs. The bamboo fabric used on this brief is a thin weave and is a little see-through but no worries if your a little modest, the double layered pouch has it covered.

The seam work and stitching isn’t as neat as it could be. There are a few spots where the fabric edges stick out or past the sewn seam. There is some minor pilling of the bamboo fabric in a few areas where there is a higher friction rate with outer clothing, at the front of the pouch and bottom of the rear seat area. I don’t see any sign of color fade and the underwear still retains its out-of-the-box shape. With a bit of attention to the manufacturing process this underwear would definitely be a top buy. Just a note: The minor imperfections in the stitching had in no way impacted the performance of the underwear.

The shape and/or cut of this brief leans toward a European cut and is very pleasing to wear. The use of bamboo fabric in making underwear has really impressed me since I have started this project and a great choice in this underwear. A wide waistband, in my book, is always a good choice. The mid-hip cut and size of the leg openings are a good clean design. The pouch’s 3″D” anatomical shape and cut are a nice design that is roomy and provides some support. The added elastic in the seams and where they are place on the underwear are a nice touch and design that help shape the underwear to the body and avoids uncomfortable rub points. All in all this is a well designed brief.
