Out of The Box

AMU’s Pure Brief is made from:
- One type of a fabric that consist of the following blend of materials:
- Polyamide, 87%, a synthetic nylon type of material
- Spandex, 13%
This is a solid and thin fabric that is slightly see though. It has a very stretchy property that scores 1.5 inches on the stretch test. The brief is made with multiple pieces of this fabric that is cut and sewn together to make the briefs shape and form. The pieces include:

- 1-piece that provides coverage of the buttocks from the waistband downward to just under the butt cheeks to the bottom of the crotch and a strip that continues around the top of the hip to the front of the pelvis to join the pouch section. This is about a 1-inch strip of coverage (not including the waistband material) that is high on the hip. It is attached at the top of the pelvis to the pouch section with flat loop stitching and at the bottom in the crotch to the gusset with an over edge stitched seam.
- 1-piece that is used as a gusset section about 1.5-inches wide between the bottom of the pouch and the rear section. It is attached to the other sections with an over edge stitched seam.
- 1-piece that is used to make the outer layer of the pouch. This piece has a small vertical flat looped stitched seam that runs down the center of the front of the pouch from about midway from the top and down to the bottom where it meets the gusset. This seam also has a small strip of elastic strip material sewn inside of it to provide more elasticity to the seam. So, the cut shape of the fabric and the elastic infused seam provide a distinct outward 3D contoured shape of the non-lined pouch.
- 2-pieces of the fabric are used to make the inner side layers of the pouch, one piece on each side. These serve as the sides of the pocket hole where the genitals are placed through to rest in the pouch. These sides or wings keep the genitals from directly contacting the body or the legs. They are attached at the outer sides to the outer layer of pouch and on the bottom at the merge seam with the gusset. Both are also attached to the waistband at the top. The unattached inner edges of these two pieces are hemmed with a strip of fabric covered elastic band about 0.5 inch wide and is sewn on with a flat looped stitch.

The leg openings as mentioned, are a high on the hip cut and are hemmed with the same the same 0.5-inch fabric covered elastic banding. (This fabric covered banding strip is also used to cover the outside joining seam used to connect the back section to the pouch section). The front part of the leg opening also serves as part of the outer edges of the pouch.
The waistband listed as AMU’s “new white and red stripped waistband” is made from one piece of a 1.3-inch-wide band of elastic material. It is joined in the rear with a wide end-to-end stitch to complete the loop. The waistband is attached to the fabric with multiple lines of flat loop stitching. The “AlphaMaleUndies” label is embroidered into the band.

The product tag is imprinted on the inside of the rear seat fabric.

Field Test

The Pure Brief has been out on the range about 6 times with about 74 hours of wear. The hours were split between operating heavy equipment at work, working around the shop and some fun time on vacation and traveling. The brief has been through 6 laundry cycles.
Review
The polyamide/spandex blended fabric used is so soft and silky on the skin in all areas. It’s light and thin and feels cool on the skin even on hot days. The blend also has a high elasticity property and is very flexible and keeps its form fitting shape all day. I have researched the description of the synthetic made product of polyamide and note that in those descriptions, polyamide, a product also known at times as a nylon, is not know for high marks in breathability or moisture wicking properties. With that said, my experience with this fabric was not the same. It never felt hot or sticky with sweat. Absolutely no soggy bottom. I never experienced any hair pulling or pinching with this fabric. There has been no chaffing or rub points and no irritating spots with any of the seams or stitching.
The low-rise waistband material is thick and has enough elasticity to remain snug on the waist with no gapping or rollover. It feels soft on the skin and doesn’t cut in or imprint on the skin.
With this being a brief style there isn’t any leg material or coverage on the legs which means there is no issue with ride-up or bunching. The high on the hip cut leaves most of the hip exposed. The leg openings fit well with no gaping or cutting in.
The pouch has a great preforming design with its spacious outward 3D contoured shape and use of the inner side wings to keep everything in the pouch and not coming in direct skin contact with the body or legs. There is plenty of room for the genitals and it provides an up and outward lifting support. There is a prominent bulge effect with this pouch design especially with light or loose outer clothing.

There is no sign of color fading or pilling in the materials, no loose threads or stressed seams and no failures or deformities in the fabric or waistband. The brief has retained its out of the box form fitting shape.
In all, the Pure Brief is a great designed brief for form and function and is built well and very comfortable. The combination of the designed shape, cut, elastic infused seams and elasticity of the fabric contribute to the form fitting wear that is spot on in fit and in accordance with the sizing guide for an extra-large.

My Thoughts
This brief was such a delight to wear. I looked forward to each time it came up on the wear schedule and I wanted to wear it more often, but I had to move on. I was so comfortable with the briefs design and performance, especially when I was riding in a seated position for long periods and with all the rides and walking enjoying the Disney parks. The lift and support properties of the pouch kept my stuff up and away from the legs so there was no uncomfortable squashing or squeezing. I never felt the need to readjust. Great support when the ride got ruff on the equipment. Again, I note that the fabric used is synthetic and may not be ecofriendly but, doggonit I like to be comfortable too and these worked for me. These are great for everyday wear for work and play. If you like or are willing to try a brief, then I recommend the Pure Brief as one you should try. You can order them directly from AlphaMaleUndies. I have just rechecked the site listing and you can snap them up for $9.00 a pair, that’s a great deal. They offer special deals, giveaways, and rewards programs too.
Until the next time, Always start your day with a fresh clean pair and be safe out there!
PS, Thanks so much to Darrell for your support.
