Xtreme Jock, by McKillop

Out of the Box

Next one up from McKillop is the Xtreme Jock. This jockstrap came in sized as a Large and is listed as the color Navy.

The Xtreme Jock is made from 1-type of fabric that is a blended material of:

  • 94% Modal
  • 6% Lycra

The blended fabric has a 2-way stretch property that scores a 1.2-inches on the stretch test. The jockstrap is made from :

  • 2-pieces of the modal/lycra fabric to form the pouch that provides full coverage of the pelvic and groin area. The two pieces (halves) are sewn together down the center from the waistband to the bottom of the pouch in the crotch. This is an over edge seam that also has a small strip of elastic sewn inside. The outer edges of the pouch that surrounds the sides and bottom are trimmed with 0.75-inch elastic band inseams. The shaped cut of the fabric along with the elastic band edges and center seam work together to produce an extreme outward 3D contoured shaped pouch.
  • 1- piece of elastic band that is 1.5-inches wide is used to make the waistband. The band is sewn together in the center rear with an end-to-end stitched seam to complete the loop and is attached to the fabric with multiple lines of stitching. The waistband has a plush like finish on the inside and has the “McKillop” name embroidered in the front. The product label is sewn on the rear inside.
  • 1-piece of elastic band around 0.75-inches wide is used to make the leg straps. The top ends are attached to the waistband at the front of the hips and run down under the Butt cheeks to attach to the bottom of the pouch. A folded “V” of the strap is secured to the bottom of the pouch with re-enforced stitching.
  • With this being a jockstrap, there is no other coverage of the buttocks or legs except for the straps material.

Field Testing

The Xtreme Jock has been out on the testing range 5 times with about 44-hours of wear time. Most of the wear was working around home and the woodworking shop. It had one day of wear traveling on vacation that included vehicle and aircraft seat time.

Scores and evaluation

The modal/lycra fabric is very soft, smooth and stretchy. It’s a thin weave that provides great breathability and moisture wicking properties. Since the fabric is thin and there is only a single layer, it is somewhat see through. Even with the thinnesses though I haven’t seen any signs of pilling, deformity, defects or color fade in the fabric.

The waistband is a wide and sturdy band that has plenty of elasticity to keep it snug on the waist without cutting into the skin. It’s soft and smooth with the plush texture. I had no issues with roll over, twisting or sagging. The only problem I saw is some loose threads in the stitching that secure the waistband to the pouch.

The leg strap elastic band material is very similar to the waistband and is also smooth and soft. The leg straps stayed put with no feeling of cutting in. I also had no problems with them twisting or sagging. The elasticity of the straps also provides a little lift to the butt cheeks.

The Xtreme Jock has a pouch designed very similar to the Hoist style pouch. There’s plenty of room for the man package. This is another pouch like the Hoist style that forms a cupping pocket around the genitals. The Xtremen jock’s pouch provides an outward lifting support that lifts the genitals up and away from the body and also provides separation that keeps the genitals from any skin-to-skin contact with the legs. This style of pouch also produces a significant bulge effect. There has been no problems with squashing or pinching.

This jockstrap has a very slim fit with it’s ultra low-rise waist and form fitting minimal coverage. There is plenty of flexibility for any body movement. I felt no restrictions. The jockstrap, sized as a large, fit the 36-inch waist perfectly. Overall the Xtreme Jock fit me as listed with McKillop’s sizing guide.

Overall the quality in the jockstrap is good with only a few loose threads in some of the stitching that attaches the waistband to the pouch. It has retained its out of the box shape.

As for performance, the Extreme Jock did very well for all day wear. It’s very cool to wear and provides great support and separation. I really enjoyed wearing it for travel too, especially when on the plane. I can’t afford to travel first class and a 6’-4” frame doesn’t fit real well in standard seating. So the pouch kept things lifted out from between the legs so no squashing.

I’m not sure that this model is still available (because I’ve gotten behind on my reviews). But looking at their site I believe they offer one similar in design and other jockstraps styles as well. This one was listed for about $20 when it was available. They have plenty more to pick from and I do recommend checking them out at the McKillop online store (mckstore.com)

More to come from McKillop so stay tuned. Until then… Always start your day with a fresh clean pair and be safe out there.
