Out of The Box
Debriefs Short Leg Trunks are made very similar to there Boxer Briefs version. Its made from:
- Material Type – Solid
- 94% Micro-Modal
- 6% Elastane
The fabric has a 2-way stretch property and scores a 1.2 inches on the stretch test. It is a thin material that is only a little see-though when stretched.
The Trunk is made from multiple pieces that are cut and sewn together to give it form.
- 1- piece that is cut to provide coverage of the buttocks, hips to the front pouch and most of the legs from the front to the rear.
- 1- piece that is used as a gusset section to provide coverage to a small portions of the inner legs to complete the leg coverage, and bottom of the crotch area between the pouch and rear sections.
- 2-pieces to make the pouch section that provides coverage to the genitals and top of the pelvis. They also provide a horizontal opening at the top for fly access between the top and bottom pieces.
- 1-piece to make the main pouch section (bottom) from the gusset up to near the top. This is one piece that is folded to give it the double layering. There is a stitched seam in both layers that runs from the bottom up the center of the pouch to about midway. This helps provide the outward 3D contouring shape of the pouch. The center seams stitching is reversed so that the exposed stitching is not against the skin on the inner layer and not showing on the outside layer. This section is attached on the surround outer edge with a flat loop stitch to the leg and gusset sections. The top edge of this piece not attached and is open horizontally across the top for fly access.
- 1-piece is to make the top of the pouch that covers the top of the pelvis area above the genitals. This piece is a folded piece to give double layering. This section is attached at the top to the waistband and on the sides to the legs sections. The bottom edge is left unattached and rest inside the bottom layer section thus creating a horizontal fly access.

The stitching to join all the section are flat loop stitched seams and the seams have an elastic banding material sewn inside. This helps with the shaping for the fitting design.

The legs are a little shorter that the boxer briefs style, at about 2 inches in length. The legs are hemmed with a stitched fold of the main fabric and also has elastic banding sewn inside.

The waistband is a 1.5 inch wide single elastic band that is end-to-end stitched in the center rear to complete the loop around the waist. The Debriefs label sewn on the front center. The waistband is attached to the fabric with multiple rows of flat loop stitching.
The product tag is imprinted on the inside rear center.

Out On The Range

Field Test Comments: I have had the Debriefs Trunks out on the range at least 5 times for around 62 hours of wear time. Mostly at work operating heavy equipment and road travel. There was a little time devoted to working around the home and shop. The trunks have been through at least 5 laundry cycles.
About The Feel and Comfort
The micro-modal/spandex fabric and the waistband is very soft on the skin. It feels light and cool. The shorter legs of the trunk fell more free with the lesser leg coverage. Soft and cool all day.
About The Fit
This trunk has a form fitting wear with the blended fabric that stays close the body but without a compression feel. The waistband has a mid-rise wear on the waist and fits snug without cutting in. The pouch is sized to give ample room for the genitals with no restrictions or tightness. There is no saggy or loose areas. Over all every thing on this trunk fits well, so I would say it fits in accordance with the listed size guide for a large.
About The Performance
The fabric is very breathable and moisture wicking and kept me feeling cool and no soggy bottom. It’s also very flexible with no restrictions with body movements. There was no hair pulling, pinching or chaffing areas. The shorter legs had very little ride up but no bunching. The waistband didn’t have any rollover or twisting and stayed put. The pouch provided good support and keeps the genitals separated from the body with no skin-to-skin contact with the legs and it also helped to keep the genitals lifted out of the way of the legs when sitting in my equipment or truck. The pouch does create a moderate outward bulge effect.
About The Quality
The seam and stitch work is very clean and flat with no loose threads. There intersecting junctions had no bumpy over stitching that tend to rub or be uncomfortable. The seams aren’t placed in areas that tend to cause discomfort or rub spots. I have not seen any sign of fabric pilling, distressed fabric areas or color fade. So far the trunk has retained its out of the box shape and fit.
About The Design and Construction
This underwear has a great design for both fit and function with the material choice and shape. It has a nice wide waistband to top it off. The room and support designed into the pouch is a great addition. Overall this is a very well designed trunk for feel, fit, performance and quality.

So What’s The Word
Debriefs has landing a great trunk underwear that wears and feels luxurious but is well suited for everyday use in the performance of many activity’s. These guys lasted all day and still felt great by the time I got home. Its well made and as you may have noticed, I could not come up with any con’s. I was going to list the price but now they are listed at $24.00/pair and these days that really isn’t bad and well below a lot of others out there. Well worth it in my book. I could live with a drawer full of these to get me through the work week. Yes I think these trunks are an on the job approved wear. You can find yours at Debriefs.com.
