The Anatomic Mini Trunk by Rounderbum is the 5th underwear from their line of products to come to the testing range. It is a trunk style listed in their [Anatomic Tech] range of underwear.

Details

The Anatomic trunk came sized as an Extra-large, listed for a size 38”-40” waist. The underwear is made of a blended cotton (93%) and elastane (7%) material that has a 2-way stretch. There are three versions of this fabric, 1 – a solid woven, 2 – a small hole mesh, and 3 – a larger hole mesh. The seat is made from 2 pieces of the solid woven version as is the pouch (2 pieces ) and a gusset that is below the pouch and between the legs. The sections of the smaller hole mesh borders both sides of the pouch in the front over to the seat section and down to the legs. There is also sections of this same mesh that continues around the bottom of the legs and across the bottom of the seat. There is a small strip of the large hole mesh that borders the seams of the small mesh and solid fabric on the front legs. (Fig 1,2,3,4)

The stitching is mostly a flat loop to bring all the sections together. In addition, the design includes a center seam in the seat that runs from the waistband to the bottom gusset and one down the middle of the pouch. (Fig 2,4,5)

The waistband is a “low-rise” cut and fit. The elastic band is 1.5 inches wide and has the Rounderbum name across the front. The lettering is a rubber material that has been infused onto the waistband. There is also a Brand tag sewn on the inside rear of the waistband. The waistband is attached to the underwear body with multiple lines of stitching (fig 1,2,3,6).
The legs on this trunk are a short 0.75 inches. They have a 1 inch hemmed band that is made from a strip of the larger hole mesh sewn inside of a fold of the solid material (fig 1,7)

The pouch’s design uses two sections of the solid material (double layered) joined down the center with a stitched seam and is attached to the underwear with a stitched seam around the perimeter of the pouch, which has a small band of elastic sewn inside. The [Anatomic] shape is achieved by a combination of the cut pattern of the fabric, the center seam down the middle, and the elastic banding inside the seam around the pouch. This pouch also has a design feature with sort of a twist. It’s attached to the underwear in a curved slant which makes it off center at the top (fig 1, 7). The pouch has no fly. There is an attached product tag that was easily removed from the waistband and one that is imprinted on the inside rear of the seat.
Range Test
The Anatomic Mini Trunk has been out on the range 6 times starting back in April. Mostly at work running heavy equipment during the day and my ride to and from the job.

Review
Fabric

Both the solid and mesh versions of this fabric are soft against the skin. The added elastane in the blend gives it a nice stretchy quality registering a 1.5 inches in the stretch test. It’s a very thin material and with the additional mesh sections makes it very breathable and moisture wicking. No chafing has been experienced. The fabric and stitching has held up so far as I have not seen any loose threads or signs of pilling or fading. With the stretchy fabric, added center rear seat, front pouch seams, and short legs, this underwear is very form fitting and retains its shape throughout the day with no bunching, wedge’s or pinching.
Waistband

The waistband on this trunk is a nice wide band and is soft but with plenty of tension to keep it snug. It stays put with your body movement and especially when bending over. I have had no problems with it rolling up or warping. It seems to be made from a high quality elastic material.
Legs

The legs on this trunk are short and definitely qualifies it as a mini. From a front profile view, the hem of the leg bottom actually rides higher than the bottom of the pouch when standing. (Fig 1). The legs fit nice and snug with no issues of riding up. This leg style is very comfortable.
Pouch

The [Anatomic] shape of the pouch is a nice comfortable and supportive pouch that provides great separation preventing any skin to skin contact of the genitals with the legs. Again the fabric is soft on the man parts. The size of the pouch is a nice fit that doesn’t pinch or squeeze. There is a moderate bulge effect with this pouch. (Fig 1, 7) The addition of the slanted profile of the pouch gives it a nifty look, but doesn’t effect its functionality.
Overall

Overall, I give this trunk underwear high scores for its comfort, feel and fit. I really like the way it feels and fits the body. The design which includes the [Anatomic] pouch and rear defining seam in the seat make for a pleasant form fitting wear without the squeeze of compression styles, but allows for unrestricted body movement. It has been well constructed with with soft and flat stitch work and sturdy fabric. It’s been through 6 wears and laundry sessions with no sign of seam or fabric deformities. It preformed very well in warm to hot temperatures and I haven’t experienced any seam rubbing or chafing points. I was prepared to encounter some hair pulling or skin pinching when I saw the mesh material, like most of us have experienced with the linings in swim trunks, but I’m happy to report that I had none with this underwear. Now the only con with this trunk is the price. It’s currently listed at 32/pair which is a little high by my reckoning. Stocking your drawer with 10 of these would put it low on the affordable scale with a cost of about $320/10 pairs, but if they last and prove to be resilient for the long haul, then perhaps there cost isn’t so bad.
Range Qualification Award

Rounderbum has a great underwear here. Yes it may be a little stylish just to wear to work, but by gully it excels at it. I found this underwear to be very work friendly and on the flip-side, your significant other may not mind you bopping around the house in these. Yes. , it’s a little pricey, but trust me, don’t buy the extra bear claw in your lunch bucket for a few weeks and spend the savings on a pair of these. Find them at Rounderbum and enjoy.
As always….. start your day with a fresh clean pair and be safe out there!
Special Thanks to Michael Paulhus!!
